Skating

Last year or so I found some old school Minnie mouse skates at DI for KayBree. I knew they were getting too little for KayBree this year so I decided to buy her new ones. Then I colored the Minnie Mouse ones black for Daimen. They look alright aside from the pink wheels that aren't so manly. We also bought them some pads, Daimen calls them his "protectors." They conveniently came with rad fingerless gloves, which are Daimens favorite part.

They are so cute!

Issue #7 (Watch Your Mouth)

KayBree was fighting with Daimen over a toy today. She is usually such a sweet little girl, but if she lets her temper slip, stand back or just run away, she shows no mercy. I told her that Daimen had the toy first, which means that he gets to play with it and when he is done, which wont be long due to his limited attention span, she will get her turn. Obviously this was the wrong thing to say to her, because she looked at me in her most deadly stare and using the sassiest voice she could muster said, "So what, Daimen gets all the toys in the house, and I don't get ANY?!?!" I, amazed that my 5 year old had already mastered the ornery, spiteful, PMSing teen tone of voice complete with rolling eyes, said "KayBree watch your mouth." She then retorted with her one of a kind, ornery, spiteful, PMSing teen tone of voice complete with rolling eyes and hands on hips, "How can I watch my mouth when it's way down there and my eyes are way up here? I just can't see it!" All the while demonstrating how ridiculous it was to even suggest such a thing, when it is obvious that it is physically impossible for her eyes to see her mouth. Me and Josh just looked at each other, jaws hanging open in sheer amazement at the verbal beating we received, started laughing, which made her even more mad. Then, through the tears of laughter, I explained to her what watching her mouth really meant.
These are the times when being a mother is really fulfilling... knowing that, like it or not, my daughter is going to be a sass just like me. Maybe this is our punishment for being reckless teens, and/or payback for all the hard times I put my parents through. Sorry Mom and Dad, all I can say is at least I never ceased to amaze you! ;)

Preschool Graduation

KayBree's Preschool Graduation!
KayBree officially graduated from the Sports Academy Preschool, Friday the 16th. It was such a cute little program. They sang their favorite songs from the year. Then they were presented with a scrapbook which is the cutest thing ever. Now that preschool is over KayBree is going crazy. What will we do to keep her occupied all summer?

KayBree's Tooth (or lack thereof)

You know you are getting old when your kids start loosing their teeth.
It all started when KayBree came to me one day really worried about something. Finally, after asking her five million times what was wrong, she told me something was broken in her mouth. I felt around and noticed her bottom tooth was loose. She thought she had broken it, and was going to be in trouble or have to go to the dentist, which are two of the most unpleasant experiences to deal with as a young child. After explaining to her that this happens to all kids when they start growing up, she was very excited and proud to show everyone.
Last night after FHE I told her to push on it with her tongue and wiggle it with her finger so it would fall out faster. I helped her push it down and it mostly broke free, then it started bleeding and she freaked out. We calmed her down and she let Josh pull it out the rest of the way with a paper towel, while I made her a little bag to put it in for the Tooth Fairy.
This is her pushing her tongue through the new gap in her teeth!

Issue #6 (SpongeBob!)

For FHE a few weeks ago the kids picked a Pineapple for the treat. I thought that it was awesome that they didn't ask for candy, root beer, or something that when digested into their tiny bodies causes a horrible chemical reaction that has them bouncing off the walls, and screaming at the top of their lungs. After FHE was over they were naturally excited for the treat, as any normal child would be. Then KayBree and Daimen started passing the pineapple between them and excitedly whispering to each other. "Can you hear him??" "Shake it, maybe he'll laugh!" I was wondering why on earth I was planning on giving them more sugar when they were already acting loopy. As they impatiently fidgeted behind me, I sliced through the pineapple, and all I hear are disappointed sighs and, "Hey! Where is he?" "I guess we'll just have to buy another pineapple." "Mom, SpongeBob doesn't live in this one, you can throw it away."
In the end I persuaded them to try one bite of the lonely, dejected pineapple. They loved it. Since then we have bought 3 more pineapples, each of which were yummy disappointments.

Yes Tyler, I know that my kids watch too much SpongeBob!
